As "Dianne" I am an English professor. But as "Dinah"--the name my parents have always called me--
I write books for young people and visit schools, libraries, and bookstores all around the country. I write about the things I love: my family, my dolls, African American history, and more. I love starting with a blank white page, using my imagination, and finally having a book to share with my friends of every age and background.
And I always remember what Frederick Douglass told us:
"Once you learn to read you will be forever free."
